Halloween Candy Structures

Are you one of those people who grabs candy corn as soon as October starts because it's the staple candy of the Halloween season? My mom definitely is, even though none of my family really likes it. So what do we do with the excess? Use it to make something you definitely don't need!

Leftover candy is a great building block. Work your brain and use your leftover candy and a box of toothpicks to make the tallest, sturdiest, or wackiest structure you can! Is it going to be a skyscraper? A bridge? An airplane? That's up to you!

Materials:

  • Paper

  • Pencil

  • Candy!

  • Toothpicks

Instructions:

  1. Brainstorm what type of structure you want to make.

  2. Use the paper and pencil to create a blueprint of what you've got in mind. This can be as detailed or simple as you'd like.

  3. Once you've got your design, start building using Halloween candy and toothpicks.

Show us your finished product! Did you have more than one design that you made? How closely does your structure resemble your drawing? Were there things on paper that seemed like a fantastic idea that didn't end up working once pieces were put together? What was really difficult in your structure? Was there something easier than you anticipated? Post your picture and answer some of the questions. Maybe the things you struggled with can help someone else in their design!
