MOD101: Learning Sculptris

MOD101 is the first course in our modeling software series. Students will learn the ins and outs of Sculptris, an introductory-level modeling software. The 30-minute workshop focuses on what modeling software is, along with how to use Sculptris to model simple non-geometric object. It’s a great introductory workshop for students curious about digital modeling.

Select a location to enroll in a workshop, resume a quiz, or reserve equipment in your local instance of the MAP.

In this course, you'll learn:

  • The basics of Sculptris and 3D modeling, including key differences between 3D modeling and CAD software.

  • Advantages and limitations of freeware such as Sculptris.

  • Brushes vs. meshes.

  • Important hotkeys and shortcuts

  • The nine most important tools and how to use them.

  • Importing and exporting Sculptris files and OBJ objects and saving your progress.
