Picture Frame Tray

Here is another easy and fun project that produces a beautiful result! Give it as a gift or keep it for your own personal use - whatever you decide to do with this is fantastic! With only a few materials, you can also make this!

What you need:

  • Picture Frame

  • Scrap piece of fabric or paper

  • Scissors

What to do:

  • Gather your materials! I like to shop around at thrift stores to find inexpensive picture frames. The one I used was from my hometown Goodwill. The scrap piece of fabric was one that I've had for years - I think my grandma got it when she was in her 30s.

  • Cut your paper or fabric into a size just slightly larger than the glass opening in your frame. My frame had a much smaller opening than others, so I didn't have to use as much fabric.

  • Open the back of your picture frame and lay your fabric with the right side (outside) flat against the glass (I probably should have ironed my fabric first to get rid of the wrinkles...). Put the back on and secure it.

  • Flip your frame over and see your finished product! I had to rearrange my fabric a few times, just to make sure the pattern looked straight in the opening.

How are you going to use your new tray? I've got one at my house that keeps moving between my coffee table and end table - it's great for using as a coaster for drinks or a flat surface for writing. The tray I made here is actually on display at the Innovation Wyrkshop. I prefer to lay it flat, but Tyler keeps moving it upright. How would you display it? Pop in and check out what other things we've got in the space! And don't forget to upload your own projects you've done in our comments section! I'd love to see your projects!
