Canned food is a staple in any household, especially as a college student. Veggies, fruit, soup... The amount of food I use that comes from a can is quite long. In fact, I just made a quiche and added some canned mushroom caps and stems! So it stands to reason that I have a plethora of empty cans in my house. Up until recently, I didn't have an easy way to recycle my cans. Upcycling cans is a super easy project though!
All you need are some of the following objects:
Cans
Hot Glue
Mod Podge
Sticks
Paint
Paper
Ribbon or Twine
Scrap Fabric
Other random bits and bobs
The instructions are very straightforward too!
Make sure your can is clean and the wrapping is off. Be careful of any sharp edges as you clean.
For sticks, glue them around the outside of the can, making sure they're as straight as possible and flush along the bottom of the can.
For fabric, cut your fabric a little bigger than the height and width of your can. Fold and iron the edges to match the exact height of the can - this helps your edges look finished and neater. Attach the fabric to your can with glue.
For paint, simply cover your can with as many coats as you'd like.
For pictures or paper, cut it to the size you'd like. Apply a thin layer of mod podge on the back of the paper, then press the paper onto the can and smooth any bumps.
Have burlap or ribbon? Simply wrap it around your can and tie a knot or a bow
